"Local Sites" by Jake James

I discovered this great website, www.urbandawgs.com. They're based in Red Bank, and this is what they do:

"We are committed to providing the resources and support necessary to build lifelong relationships between people and their canine companions. Offering a broad range of educational programs and services, our goal is to help dog owners better understand how their dogs learn and communicate, and how to effectively bridge that communication using proven positive reinforcement training methods."

Sounds like just the sort of thing my dog and I need. And I liked reading on the site, under 'About Us', how they go about their business:

"Urban Dawgs uses progressive, force-free training methods based on the scientific principles of animal learning theory. We do not use choke/prong/shock collars, leash corrections, alpha rolls, shake cans, spray bottles or any other form of physical or psychological attack. Our highly effective techniques are 100% dog-friendly and taught with an emphasis on trust and cooperation, so you can truly be your dog's best friend! After all, isn't that why you got your dog to begin with?"

The website is full of useful information about pooches and anything related to them. Like pet events in the area, how you can donate to pet victims of Katrina, and things like that.

From www.urbandawgs.com you can register for group classes by downloading a registration form. They hold their classes at: Paw Palace, at 19 W. Front Street, Red Bank. Of course, there's a full list of all the classes they offer with very detailed descriptions.

They've also got a bunch of articles on the site about dog behavior and training, and a list of recommended books.
